Russia's attack on Ukraine creates a threat of hunger in the world due to destroyed ways of transport and production of food, mostly Ukrainian wheat, but also shortage of fertilizers all over the world. Russia and Ukraine together export 28% of fertilizers made from nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as potassium, according to Morgan Stanley. In general also caused by this war, shortage and rising price of natural gas makes production of fertilizers more expensive, because gas is an important energy and chemical factor in production of them. Urine is chock full of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, which are the nutrients plants need to thrive — and the main ingredients in common mineral fertilizers (Scientific American, 2010). Human urine is generally not separately collected and processed into fertilizers. It’s treated as a waste. But now waste is political, because it’s dangerous for both food and energy independence of the world from Russia control, but it's also not ecologically sustainable.I want to create a 360 degree graphic abstract animation from the inside of the stream / process of circulation in the body and environment of the most important elements present in urine and important for producing fertilizers.I need to make research and decisions in: - chemical processes both in body - producing urine, - like in environment - about artificial fertilizers, - style and level of abstraction of artistic / visual presentation of this process, - possible incorporating performance style live action scenes, and in general actions “around” animation, like presenting urinating in public / green areas as a pro-social / environment freindly act.
My project is very interdisciplinary because I will try to make representation scientifically accurate, and in comment add
For the last 4 years I work exclusively in immersive media, mostly in 360 degree video format. My most successful project - “Sector” is “ecoperformance” about environmentally destructive construction works on the Polish sea coast. Presently I work on the VR documentary “Inhibitor” about artistic forms of environmental protests and possibly influencing positive change initiatives. This spring I created a 360 degree animation “Words are Sensual” of abstract experience from the perspective of being in human blood-stream and womb. I work with Prof. Bjoern Stockleben on ideas of incorporating more science and nature subjects in education of new media students.
Recently I get invited to visit University of Southern California and its World Building Institute run by Prof. Alex McDowell to join his two projects: “World in the Cell'' - scientifically accurate VR presentation of work of one of human body cells, and JUNK - network of interdisciplinary institutes / students creating a vision of the world in the year 2300 - after the environmental catastrophe.
